Lasso A Stamp Set Contest Entry

Well here it is.  My layout using the CTMH convention 2012 postcard.  Between making this layout and a CTMH unit meeting yesterday I am super excited and counting down the days to convention.

Polish Your Boots Layout
  • I used a sheet of daisy white cs for the backing
  • cut 1 pc sunset dot B&T (from "Dotty For You") to 6x12 and 1 pc of the blue print from "Stella"
  • I had to scan and print the backside of the postcard so that I was able to use both sides.  I ended up cutting off the outside (lagoon) edge of the postcard and using glitz gel on the white part to make it pop better
  • the squares in the top right corner are 2 1/2 inches each.  I downloaded all three logos from a google image search and changed them from their original colors to the brownish/orange in Microsoft Word.
  • Both the Texas and the boots are WPC files that I cut from my Pazzles.  Dallas is marked with a sunset button brad topped with a tiny lagoon star

  • The boots, the squares & the straps are both heavily distressed cardstock that has been sanded & inked to resemble "leather" .  I backed the boots with lagoon cs.  For the straps on the spurs I cut thin strips of the same "leather" paper and crumpled it SEVERAL times, then I inked it in black after flattening it out .  I used tiny silver jump rings from the jewelry department to connect the straps.  The spurs are the ONLY thing I would change on this layout.  I punched a starburst from a piece of silver "not shiny" paper that I have had in my stash for many, many years....If I happen to run across a small, silver, metal object that looks like a spur I WILL change them out.

So, What do you think?  Is this layout "Free Stamp Set" worthy?

Convention Contest
Lasso A Stamp Set
About a month ago I got a post card in the mail announcing the Close To My Heart convention in Dallas this July.  Since I had already signed up to go to convention 2012 months before I tucked the pretty postcard away to be scrapped later.

Then I got an email from Close To My Heart telling us to pull out that postcard (glad I saved mine!) and that we were to create a one or two page layout featuring the postcard.  The best news?  You could WIN A FREE stamp set of your choice from the up coming Fall/Winter 2012 Idea Book!!!!

I pulled out the card and was thrilled to see that the primary colors were Lagoon & Sunset.  The same as the colors featured in "Stella" (one of my favorite paper packs from the Spring/Summer 2012 Idea Book.....AND....those are also two of the featured colors in the National Scrapbook Month Special, "Dotty For You" which contains 24 luscious sheets of double sided paper.  This special runs April 17th through may 31st, and with every purchase of $35 you can get this paper packet for just $5!

Be on the lookout for a list of products that will work beautifully with "Dotty For You" When you shop from this list not only will you easily meet your $35 minimum....you will have everything needed to create tons of perfectly coordinated pages and projects

I'm almost through with my contest layout and will be posting it tomorrow!

Mothers Day Card

yellow dot & zig zag paper from "Dotty For You"
"hooray bouquet" stamp set
"A Little Everything" stamp set
a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 CTMH card base
cricut AP cartridge (to cut the flowers)
CTMH stardust glitz
lagoon cardstock
sunset & lagoon

putting the card together is pretty simple, but yes, I did hand cut that zig zag from the sheet of zig zag paper in the "Dotty For You" paper pack.  Another option would be to cut the one from the AP cartridge on the cricut
